The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and introducing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
