The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position after another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.
The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.
They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.
“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received significant backing from management,” the coach remarked.
“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”
He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”
Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot said:
“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”
He further stated, “In the normal discussions I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”
Slot highlighted familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.
“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.
“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”
He added, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”
“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a period like this with performances like these.”
Jones finished, “But we still have that badge on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we will always battle.”
“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”
“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
