The midfielder Deliveries from corners and free kicks caused problems. Enjoyed room to drift in left midfield but was offside as the pass came with a chance to score. Awarded a merited break after an hour. Six

Jude Bellingham Played in a forward position on the right while also contributed with the hard yards. Showed glimpses of brilliance and scuffed an effort over. Withdrawn late on for Rogers, his rival, following a yellow card. Seven

The winger Had England’s top opening before halftime, his strike well saved from Thomas Strakosha. With a teammate holding position, he was forced to offer an outlet down the right side but his crosses into the box varied in quality. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. 6

Harry Kane The match-winner scoring two more strikes at international level. His first a typical poacher’s finish and his next an excellent header following a clever run from his marker. At 32, his form is unwavering and the side have every chance in future competitions with him leading the line. 8

The attacker Found it tough to influence play from the left. Had a good opening when set up from a teammate but Strakosha denied him. Rashford produced a bigger effect when substituted. 5/10
