Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
