Cruise Terminated In the Wake of Tragic Loss of Female Passenger Left Behind on Island

An extensive extended journey circling Australia is being halted days after the death of an elderly woman who was left behind by the ship on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the vessel, but broke off from the party for a pause. The liner departed without her and returned after some time after the personnel became aware the woman was missing.

A major rescue mission located her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the incident, alongside investigators and the official investigator.

The CEO of the shipping company said that guests and staff on the vessel were told that the rest of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and prior technical problems".

Via official communication, he further stated that travelers would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to organize the homeward trips of the individuals via chartered flights".

Officials also published an latest statement, and said they had "provided a notice to the Captain" banning any further travelers from getting on the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the vessel in the Australian city upon its coming back.

The ship initially left the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was merely two days into the journey at the point of the 80-year-old's passing. Lizard Island was the first stop on the itinerary.
